Ricochet Pro Wrestling had a historic Crossfire on Wednesday night. The night started off with Ricochet owner, Buzz Stone, standing in the ring with none other than JC Barr to announce that Ricochet had joined Barr's Apex Wrestling Alliance, joining with such feds as Wrestling Midwest (WMW) and World's Toughest Federation (WTF) as their first internationally based federation. This is a historic move for Ricochet as RPW has not been a part of any organization since their very public departure from the NeWA more than two years ago. Ricochet's joining of the AWA seems to be beneficial both organizations as it will provide much needed funding to Ricochet, which has been having public financial problems since the beginning of this year. It will also provide international exposure for both the AWA and its members feds, which is something they were interested in.

However, the announcement of the joining of the AWA was not the only historic event that happened on Crossfire. Ricochet ended the show with a presentation to Sean "The Nightmare" Cain. The former World Champion won what was believed to be the Trans-Atlantic Championship at Sweet Dreams, defeating Antonino Romano, Shawn Kelley, and Chris Deppe in a Ricochet Cage Match. However, Buzz Stone had a surprise up his sleeve. Instead of crowning Cain the new Trans-Atlantic Champion, Buzz brought the Chaos Championship out of retirement. The Chaos Championship is one of the most decorated titles in Ricochet's history, as it was one of the original titles when the fed first started in 2001. The Chaos Championship is usually defended in Chaos Rules matches and was retired in 2007, nearly two years ago.

Other events on Crossfire saw Shawn Kelley attacked out of nowhere by Thomas Steele, putting Kelley out of his intended match with David Dunn, who marked his return to action on Crossfire. With Kelley out, Dunn found rookie, Jason Reed, to make his Ricochet debut. While Reed put on an impressive match, Dunn hit the Promise Land out of nowhere to pick up the victory. Last night also so the return of "The Wrestling Funnyman" Adam Hartman, however, still not being cleared to wrestle due to a severe concussion he suffered several months ago, he returned as an interviewer, getting an interview with World Heavyweight Champion Johnny Royal. Royal laid down his own challenge to the roster, both in Ricochet and outside of Ricochet, that he would take on any challenger. However, Hartman was not the only  person who paid Royal a visit as David Dubose also made a surprise visit to Crossfire.

David Dubose is the promoter who first discovered Johnny Royal several years ago, well before Royal joined Ricochet. Not only was he his promoter, but he also managed not only Royal's, but also fellow RPW star, Shawn Kelley's careers for some time. Royal did not seem very comfortable with Dubose being there, and his uncomfortableness seemed justified when later in the night, Dubose threatened to remove Johnny Royal from Ricochet. No word on what this was about, but when more information is available, we will report it.

Finally, in the main event of Crossfire, we saw Antonino Romano take on Kagerro. The two put on a very back and forth match, which saw Romano hit the Capiche for the victory.

The next Crossfire will pit Adam Heaton take on newcomer, Jason Reed, Chris Deppe try to get revenge on Thomas Steele for attacking his cousin, and in the main event, will see Antonino Romano face David Dunn.

Huge Announcements on Crossfire plus other news PDF Print E-mail

The special Wednesday edition of Crossfire promises to be something exciting. Earlier today, Buzz Stone, owner of Ricochet Pro Wrestling, announced that he would have not one, but two huge announcements on this upcoming Crossfire. While Buzz was already scheduled to appear on the show to present Sean Cain with the Trans-Atlantic Championship, he gave no other clues as to what either announcement were, but speculation began almost immediately after Buzz stopped talking.

Some believe that Buzz will announce the date of the next supercard and Johnny Royal's opponent for the event, while others believe he will announce the return of a former superstar or a huge new acquisition that will be joining Ricochet. Still others believe that this announcement will not be a positive one for Ricochet, continuing the string of bad luck that RPW has had in the past few months.

In other Ricochet news, despite strong ratings and very positive reviews for Sweet Dreams, many advertisers still speculate on whether the strong ratings will continue post-Sweet Dreams. Several advertisers have told the Ricochet front office that they will decide on a week to week basis whether they will continue to sponsor RPW and their shows. However, at this time, no advertisers have pulled their funding, a funding that Ricochet desperately needs to stay alive and in business.

And finally, Ricochet has apparantely made two new acquisitions in the past few days. First up is a new wrestler, Jason Reed. Reed is a virtual unknown and will join the roster as its youngest member. Many believe that this maybe the first of several new and young signees, to help tap into the younger crowd even more at the Tap 'N' Tin. Reed is scheduled to appear at Crossfire, however, it is unknown as to whether he will be wrestling on the show. The other acquisition is a bit more secretive as Ricochet apparantely hired a new interviewer / reporter, however, his or her name has yet to be released. It is believed they will make their first appearance on this upcoming Crossfire.

David Dunn Returns at Sweet Dreams PDF Print E-mail

It has just been announced that David Dunn, former Ricochet Pro Wrestling Prime Champion, will make his much anticipated return to Ricochet at Sweet Dreams.

It has been several months since Dunn was severely injured in a mysterious accident that many believe, including Dunn himself, was no accident, despite the official ruling on the incident. Reports are that Dunn is now at 100% and is ready to return back to action.

His first appearance will be at Sweet Dreams, however, in what capacity is not known. It should be very interesting seeing at the time of his injury, he had feuds with virtually the entire roster.

Mimic Released PDF Print E-mail

Ricochet Pro Wrestling has come to terms on the release of Mimic (John Haines) as of today, June 5, 2009. RPW wishes John the best in all future endeavors.

With just days until RPW's supercard, Sweet Dreams, and Mimic scheduled to take on Antonino Romano, word is that the match has obviously been scratched from the line-up. It was one of the most anticipated match on the card, so this is another blow to Ricochet and their trying to rebuild their ratings. However, Antonino Romano, has officially been placed in the Trans-Atlantic Championship match, making it a Ricochet Fatal Fourway.

RPW Ratings Down, Sponsors Worried PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 18 May 2009 19:00
Despite still being in a budget crisis, there has been very little spoken about it in the Ricochet lockerroom. Buzz Stone, majority owner of RPW, is keeping a positive attitude in front of wrestlers and staff, but many believe it is just a front and that Ricochet continues to be in dire financial straights. To add to the problem, while Ricochet's live attendance is up, specifically since beginning to do shows out of the Tap 'N' Tin in Chatham, Kent, ratings for Crossfire are down. While having the same time slots both in England and the United States, ratings have dropped over the past few months, since the beginning of the year, and have yet to recover or shown signs of improvements.

On a positive, ratings have actually increased with Canadian viewers.

With the lower ratings, several advertisers are beginning to consider pulling out of their sponsorship of Ricochet, which would devistate Ricochet's budget even more, as many believe that the sponsors are the only thing keeping Ricochet afloat. The success of Sweet Dreams may make or break Ricochet as far as their budget goes. If ratings do not show signs of improvement, the sponsors may pull out, and without immediate new sponsors, Ricochet might be forced into hiatus status, unable to afford to put on anymore shows.
