Ricochet Signs New Superstar, Potential MMA Division PDF Print E-mail

Earlier this week, Ricochet signed new superstar Tommy "The Fury" Crimson to a contract. Crimson is yet another example of a new superstar with both a background in professional wrestling and MMA. This brings several superstars to the roster with a MMA background into Ricochet. This prompts speculation that Ricochet maybe interested in starting their own MMA-style division or at least their own version of it. Ricochet is known for doing innovative things with classic matches, so it is not far fetched that they would take an established style and try to do something different with it to help showcase both Ricochet and their superstars.

Anthony Rigby and Melanie Cohen to Attend Crossfire, Tap N' Tin News PDF Print E-mail

In news that does not shock many people, Ricochet minority owners Anthony Rigby and Melanie Cohen will attend next week's Crossfire. This Crossfire will be the final episode televised in either the United Kingdom or Canada, the two biggest ratings draws for RPW. Rigby and Cohen are said to be meeting with the talent and staff individually.

Many believe that such a move might be the  precursor for more layoffs or worse a temporary or even a permanent shutdown.

In some of the first good news out of Ricochet in months, the Tap N' Tin has agreed to terms to allow Ricochet to rent out their facilities at a reduced rate, in order to keep them from moving to another facility. The Tap N' Tin management is very happy with RPW's ticket gate, which they receive a small percentage of, on top of the rent, and wish to keep RPW from looking for a new facility. The Tap N' Tin, in such a short amount of time, has become one of the most loved crowds in Ricochet's history that, while drawing smaller crowds than when they were at King George Hall, they seem to be more passionate about the product, purchasing almost double in merchandise sales on a regular basis than what the Hall crowd would. Ricochet is also happy with the arrangement and plan on staying at the Tap 'N Tin for as long as they will have them.

More bad news for Ricochet PDF Print E-mail

Less than two weeks after Buzz Stone committed suicide, it appears as if there is more bad news for Ricochet Pro Wrestling. Both the Wrestling Network in the United Kingdom and the Fight Network in Canada have opted not to renew Crossfire for the upcoming season. While neither network would comment on it publicly, it is believed that Buzz Stone's death was the deciding factor in the decision not to renew the current contract with Ricochet. The current contract officially ended at the end of August, however, Ricochet secured a one month extension several weeks ago to continue broadcasting. This will make the final episode of Crossfire on both networks for Wednesday, September 23rd.

With Ricochet being forced off of their two primary networks, and now only being seen in limited installments in the United States and Mexico, this is yet another blow to Ricochet's already hurting economy as they will no longer receive any revenue from advertisements. Melanie Cohen, who handled the original broadcast deal, is currently shopping Crossfire around to other networks, but many are concerned that with Buzz Stone gone, Ricochet is a doomed product and many networks will not be willing to take the chance on it.
